Scuba Diving, Freediving and Snorkeling are adventurous activities that involve risk and your safety is our priority. Please read the following information before participating in any dive or snorkeling activity with us.
Medical Fitness
You must be medically fit to engage in scuba diving, free diving and snorkeling activities with Dive Zone Tauranga. This includes being in good health and free from medical conditions that could be exacerbated by the physical demands and pressure changes related with these activities. You must advise Dive Zone Tauranga of any pre existing health conditions or previous dive injuries before participating in any activities with us. This information is vital for your safety and the safety of others. We reserve the right to request a medical questionnaire signed by a physician prior to participating in a diving activity with us. All participants undertaking training are required to complete a medical questionnaire and if necessary, consult a physician.
Risks
Scuba Diving , Feeediving and snorkelling involve risks including but not limited to:
Barotrauma and Decompression Sickness |
Drowning |
Hypothermia |
Exhaustion |
Shallow water black out |
Equipment Malfunctions |
Marine life encounters and injuries |
Limited Visibility |
Tsunamis |
Earthquakes |
Change in weather conditions |
Injuries due to falls and slips |
Risk on entanglement |
Emotional stress and panic |
Safety Record and Management
Dive Zone Tauranga has an excellent safety record and hold a current Adventure Activities audit. We have a detailed safety management plan that mitigates these risks as much as practically possible , despite these precautions, risks still remain.
Zero Tolerance for Drugs and Alcohol
Dive Zone Tauranga enforces a strict zero tolerance policy for drugs and alcohol. Participants must not consume or be under the influence of drugs or alcohol 12 hours before or during any diving or snorkeling activities. Violation of this policy will result in immediate removal from the activity and possible cancellation of your activity without a refund.
Assumption of personal responsibility
Participating in scuba diving, freediving and snorkeling are all activities that carry inherent risk. Even with professional guidance and well maintained equipment. You assume personal responsibility for your safety and welling by engaging in these activities. It is essential that you act responsibly, communicate openly with our staff , adhere to safety guidelines and staff instructions at all times.
If you believe that any instructions may endanger you, you should voice your concerns immediately.
You agree to notify management of any behaviors or actions you witness or that you deem unsafe as soon as possible. Speak up to the staff present if you observe any such issues.
Understanding
By participating in these activities with Dive Zone Tauranga you acknowledge and accept that:
- You have read and understood the risk and potential hazards associated with scuba diving , freediving and snorkeling activities.
- You are aware that participating in these activities involves risk that may result in injury or death
- You confirm that you are medically fit to participate and agree to follow all instructions, guidelines, and safety procedures provided by Dive Zone Tauranga
