Taveuni Island  is just over an hours flight from Nadi Airport and is known as Fijis Garden Island. The Somosomo Strait a shallow, narrow channel – separating Taveuni from Vanua Levu in northern Fiji  is easily one of Fijis Top dive regions and is home to many outstanding dive sites including the rainbow reef and Somosomos most famous dive site The Great White Wall. 

The sheer drop-off boasts a dazzling display of hard and soft corals, colourful sponges and crinoids. At 15-65m deep, the wall’s name becomes clear, with it blanket of blooming white ‘Dendronepthya’ soft corals. You’ll want to step back from the wall to really appreciate it’s grandeur. The tidal currents are one of the reasons that these corals are so healthy. These currents also mean that there are certain times when it’s best to dive this site. If you dive the site on other days, you see the great brown wall because the corals are feeding, This dates of this trip coincides with an ideal day to dive on this wall.  With more than 1,400 species of reef fish, abundant invertebrates and the chance to spot manta rays, Spinner dolphins and humpback whales, the Somosomo Strait is truly a diver’s dream destination.

This is a very relaxed trip, we generally do two dives the morning leaving plenty of time in the afternoon for relaxing by the pool sightseeing, or  visiting one of the islands water falls and bush walks.

All levels of divers are welcome, however we strongly recommend completing your PADI Advanced certifaction before this trip so you are not limited to a depth of 18 meters. 

The resort consists of 8 Bures and Dive Zone Tauranga has exclusive use of the whole resort during our stay. Each spacious Bure is tastefully decorated with a king size bed, (a single bed can be added if required)  and has either a garden or ocean view. (Unfortunatly single occupancy is not available)

If you do not have your own dive gear, you can hire gear from us at no charge. Pick up and drop of from Dive Zone Tauranga. ( note we only have 7mm hire wetsuits available for hire)

 Payment Terms - Non refundable $500 per person deposit required upon booking, final balance due 1 May 2026.
